Pieta Casket Details
The Pieta casket is constructed from the Paulownia Timber also known as Royal Paulownia, Kiri or Princess Tree. This ornate timber is native to East Asia but is grown commercially in other countries and is a recognised sustainable product. The timber grain on the casket is highly polished and stained with a Walnut gloss finish. This finish brings out the grain of the Paulownia beautifully.
The traditional sculptures depicted on the Pieta Casket are from key works of Michelangelo depicted in the St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City. The corner pieces on the casket represent the Virgin Mary supporting the body of Christ and the backing on the full bar handles is of The Last Supper. These are constructed in an antique bronze finish.
The inside of the casket is lovingly lined and upholstered in a creme plush finish.
