A formal “stiff upper lip affair” was just not our grandma’s style. She was such a vibrant and out there lady. Even in her late 80’s she was a trend setter with her loud hair, bright clothing and bling. Grandma’s handbag and shoe collection was coveted by many. This is our Grandma – A Celebration Of Life
When she passed we were desperate to find a funeral director who would take the time to capture the essence of our Grandma. We just couldn’t find anyone. They all pretty much offered the same boring services and this was not our Granny!
We happened to come across the Swanborough Funerals website and thought these guys seem to offer something just a little different. We rang them and Shelly came out to see us. She was exactly what we were looking for.
Shelly suggested we use Mt Cotton Rain-forest Gardens to hold Granny’s life celebration followed by an afternoon tea garden party.
We used a wicker coffin for Grandma and decorated it with lots of bright coloured flowers. We hung photos around the garden from the trees. Grandma was dressed in her favourite outfit with her bling, her shoes, matching handbag and of course that fuchsia pink lippy she so loved. Everyone wore bright colors and her granddaughters carried Jean’s beautiful coffin.
As dusk settled us girls carried Granny’s casket and placed it in the hearse. We all put floating tea light candles on the lake as we said our farewells.
It was the perfect farewell for a very special lady. A celebration of Life.
Thank you so much – Swanborough Funerals
