Percy’s Story. Our Pop Percy was a simple man and not one for formal occasions. He didn’t like big crowds and definitely hated being the centre of attention. He loved his bush block and spent nearly every weekend out there. When he passed we knew he would not want every “Tom, Dick and Harry” coming to his funeral.
We were referred to Swanborough Funerals by a friend of Pop’s. We rang Brian and he came out to the home to see us. We sat down over a cuppa and told him about our Pop.
We didn’t know what to do because we knew Pop would not have wanted a funeral but we needed to say our goodbyes. So Brian suggested we have a private family gathering at the funeral home followed by a memorial service on Pop’s block.
This was perfect. We were not pressured to spend large amounts of money on a funeral or a coffin and we could take as much time as we wanted with our Pop at the funeral home.
Brian referred us to Peter the celebrant who took the memorial service. He just captured our Pop’s spirit perfectly. Of course we had to play a bit of “Slim and Hank Williams” and we all had a drink on Pop.
Thank you Brian and Swanborough Funerals you did Pop proud.
Peter, Leonie and family.
